Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned police violence in the United States on Monday and said he was not surprised by it as Washington has been applying the same kind of approach towards Iran.
"The 'knee-on-neck' technique is nothing new: the same cabal who has admitted to habitually 'lie, cheat, steal', have been employing it on 80 million Iranians for 2 years, calling it 'maximum pressure," Zarif tweeted.
Zarif added: "It hasn't brought us to our knees. Nor will it abase African-Americans."
Earlier, Zarif has also slammed the United States for its brutal behavior towards African Americans, calling on the world to ramp up war against racism.
Friday’s protests were triggered by the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after he was pinned at the neck by a white Minneapolis police officer.
In recent days security at the White House has been reinforced by the US National Guard and additional personnel from the Secret Service and the US Park Police.
Since the beginning of the anti-racism protests in the United States, 1700 people have been arrested in 22 cities.
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in various cities Sunday night for the fifth night to protest the killing of George Floyd by police and the deaths of other blacks in US police custody to protest violence.
