Majlis close session kicks off with attendance of Iran Health Minister

Tehran (IP) - The close session of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) kicked off at 8:00 this morning with the attendance of Iranian Health Minister Saeid Namaki.

Iran Press/Iran news: Saeid Namaki will discuss the issue of Coronavirus outbreak in the parliament.

Iran Health Ministry forms a special headquarters called "Corona technical and executive headquarters" with all of the staff in charge of the Ministry, the representatives of Medical council of Iran as well as some managers' of departments in attendance.

The body temperature of all the parliament members, journalists and those who participated in the session were checked by thermometer guns ahead of the session.

The novel coronavirus, Covid-19, has so far claimed the lives of eight people in Iran while 43 individuals have been confirmed as infected to the disease, said Health Ministry officials on Sunday.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases across the world is now 79,561, and 2,619 have died from the outbreak, according to the latest data.

The outbreak of Coronavirus also known as COVID-19 in Iran was first detected on 19 February, when health authorities in Qom confirmed the death of two elderly people as a result of the first incidence of the disease in Iran.

The parliament also is due to review the budget of the year 99 on three sessions.

The session is held after about a 20-day break.
