The speaker of Iran's parliament (Majlis ), Ali Larijani, has urged the government to seriously consider fresh proposals by Iranian parliamentarians for improving the economy.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, during an official session of the Majlis (parliament) , Larijani said "We discussed this morning, the state of the economy,  particularly rising prices and inflation, and how best to tackle this problem." 

Larijani added:  "Expert members of parliamentary committees and working groups have made a number of proposals and suggestions  which we shall put to the government.  We strongly urge the government to seriously consider these proposals."

Ali Larijani did not elaborate on the details of these proposals,  but hinted that no new legislation is required to enact them, implying that the proposals can be enacted by using existing legislation.

In further remarks  Larijani said we shall soon discuss these new proposals  with senior officials within the government.
