Zarif arrived in Senegal on Monday morning on the first leg of his tour of Africa and South America.
He told reporters that during his visits to the four countries of Senegal, Namibia, Brazil, and Uruguay, he is accompanied by a large delegation of ministers, businessmen, entrepreneurs and industrialists , from both the public and private sectors. Zarif said the focus of his visits will be promotion of bilateral economic and commercial ties.
Describing economic relations with Senegal as satisfactory, Foreign Minister Zarif said: "During the visit, talks will be held with the country's officials in order to promote bilateral ties.'
'As far as auto-makers are concerned, Iran is already active in this sector of Senegal's economy; there are also good grounds for economic ties in the West African country, and we hope we can lay grounds for non-oil exports to Senegal and other countries during this visit".
Zarif will leave Senegal on Monday evening.
