Iran Press/ Europe: Zarif's visit to Moscow comes after the failure of US efforts to reinstate UN sanctions against Iran, coinciding with the joint "Caucasus 2020" military exercise involving Iran and Russia in the Caspian and the Black Sea regions.
According to Kazem Jalali, Iran's ambassador to Russia, Mohammad Javad Zarif and Sergei Lavrov will hold regional and bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart Lavrov five years after concluding Iran's nuclear deal 2015 known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Russia, as a supporter of the Iran nuclear deal, has recently opposed an IAEA Board of Governors' resolution on Iran. Tehran and Moscow are also in full solidarity against US anti-humanitarian and unilateral sanctions.
In light of the will of the leaders and high-ranking officials of the two countries, bilateral relations are growing in order to ensure common interests and help ensure regional and international security.
