Iran Press/ Iran News: The upgrade to the homegrown system was proportional to threats and Iran has tested the system at the new range, Iranian Army's Air Defense Force Commander Alireza Sabahi-Fard said at a military academy in the capital Tehran.
In August 2019, Iran unveiled the domestically designed and manufactured mobile defense system with an operational range of 200 km to intercept incoming hostile targets.
"We are monitoring the enemies at their bases. The range of our radars is thousands of kilometers," the Iranian commander was quoted by Tasnim as saying. He added that the Iranian Armed Forces are at the highest level of deterrence power.
The missile system has two detection and engagement radars that can withstand electronic warfare and electromagnetic bombs. In addition, the radars are capable of detecting anti-radiation missiles that are used to confront air defenses.
The long-range air defense system is capable of detecting up to 100 targets, tracking 60 of them, and engage with six concurrently.
A distinguishing feature of Bavar-373 is its vertical launching system with square launchers, mostly used for air defense on warships.
Bavar-373 uses a long-range, phased array fire-control radar, dubbed Me’raj-4.
The air defense system employs three different types of missiles to hit targets at various altitudes.
