Tehran (IP) - In a dominant display, Iran emerged victorious at the 2024 CAFA U-20 Championship, defeating Kyrgyzstan 3-0 in the final on Friday.

Iran Press/Iran News: The star of the show was striker Reza Ghandipour, who netted a hat-trick to secure the title for Iran. Ghandipour's clinical finishing proved too much for the Kyrgyz defense, as the young Iranian showcased the talent that has made him one of the most exciting prospects in Asian football.

Iran's road to the final was equally impressive. Hossein Abdi's side began their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 win over Turkmenistan, before being held to a 1-1 draw by defending champions Uzbekistan in their group stage encounter. However, the Iranians bounced back strongly, topping their group and booking their place in the final.

In the third-place playoff, Uzbekistan managed to secure the bronze medal, defeating Tajikistan 3-0. The defending champions will be disappointed to have fallen short of retaining their title but can take solace in the fact that their young stars gained valuable experience at this prestigious regional tournament.

The 2024 CAFA U-20 Championship, organized by the Central Asian Football Association, featured the men's under-20 national teams of Central Asia. The competition was held in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan, with Iran emerging as the deserving champions after an impressive campaign.
