Iran criticizes selective approach of the western governments

The permanent representative of Iran to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), criticized the selective political approach of the western governments towards human rights issues.

Iran Press/AmericaThe permanent representative of Iran to the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh, in a statement on Wednesday said that the western countries use human rights as a tool to put their opponent countries under pressure.

Pointing to the political behavior of Western governments on the human rights situation in China's Xinjiang province, the statement went on to say: "The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the approach of some western countries towards the minorities in China and their dual approach towards the human rights issue is unacceptable," Iran Press reported.

The permanent representative of Iran to the United Nations Office at Geneva also called on western countries to stop ignoring of human rights violations by Saudi Arabia in Yemen.

Last week, 22 most European states co-signed the letter sent to the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, criticized China for what they called it as human rights violation in Xinjiang province of China.
