Iran Press/ Iran news: Iran's President Ebrahim raisi left Tehran for Beijing Monday night for a three-day visit at the formal invitation of his Chinese counterpart.
During his stay, Raisi is to meet with President Xi. The two sides’ delegations will sign cooperation documents.
President Raisi said that pursuing the implementation of a landmark 25-year cooperation agreement between the two countries will be one of the main agendas of the trip and as many as 25 different agreements will be signed between Tehran and Beijing.
The president made the remarks while speaking to reporters at Tehran’s International Mehrabad Airport prior to departing for Beijing.
Before his departure for Beijing on Monday evening, Ebrahim Raisi said that Iran and China have extensive relations but there were yet to utilize the capacities of the two countries to elevate the ties, especially in the economic area.
Raisi referred to Iran and China as two independent countries in the world with common interests at the regional and international levels that can have much more ties. He said the implementation of the 25-year agreement will be pursued during the visit.
He said that the defect must be compensated which is through identifying the capacities, particularly the economic ones, of the two counties and working on them.
Raisi noted the will to elevate the bilateral ties between the two countries existed, emphasizing the relations must be followed up strategically.
He highlighted the membership of Iran Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO): "Our membership in the SCO our relations with the economic infrastructure of the region was ensured and this prepare the grounds for having ties with Asian countries, including China."
President Raisi pointed to the common stance of Iran and China against unilateralism, and political independence in the world, adding that the common positions led to good cooperation between the two countries at the regional and international levels.
The Iranian president said the ministers and other officials would have meetings with their counterparts, and expressed hope that the visit could lead to expanding the comprehensive ties with China.
President Raisi will have a two-day visit at the formal invitation of his Chinese officials.
Urging the necessity to follow up these relations, the president said that “our ministers will sign agreements in this trip.”
