Iran, China to boost cinematic ties

Tehran (P) - The joint capacities of Iranian and Chinese cinema were examined in a specialised meeting attended by the President of the Iranian Academy of Arts and the Chinese Ambassador to Tehran.

Iran PressIran news:  According to the public relations of the Academy of Arts, a specialized meeting on 'Joint Capacities of Iranian and Chinese Cinema' was attended by Bahman Namvar Motlagh, President of the Iranian Academy of Arts; Chinese Ambassador to Tehran Chang Hua; Majid Majidi, Head of the Cinema Department of the Academy of Arts Zhozy Haw, Cultural attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Tehran and a group of directors and people of culture and art and experts in the field of cinema were held at the Academy of Arts.

Namvar Motlagh called Iran and China the representatives of two great civilizations and said: "These two great countries of the Orient have historically been very influential in the fate of humanity and the fate of the world, and today they can play this role together."

The head of the Iranian Academy of Arts added: "Memorandums of understanding have been concluded with China in the field of cinema, and we hope that it will expand in various dimensions."

The Chinese ambassador to Tehran also considered the holding of this meeting as a meaningful move, important and a great event in the history of Chinese-Iranian cinematic relations and expressed his satisfaction with his presence among Iranian cinematographers.

Chang Hua added: "The presence of Iranian films in Chinese festivals in recent years has become a beautiful and stable scene, and many Iranian directors have been invited to China to make films."

This meeting was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Iran-China diplomatic relations.
