St. Petersburg (IP) - Iran's top security official, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, has underscored the pivotal role of BRICS in advancing global multilateralism.

Iran Press/Europe: Iran's Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, and Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vulin, underscored the importance of deepening international cooperation between their nations.

During a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS security summit in St. Petersburg, Ahmadian emphasized the need to expand economic, scientific, and technological ties between Iran and Serbia. "Our countries share significant commonalities and mutual interests on the global stage," Ahmadian remarked. "It is crucial that we further solidify the convergence of our two nations."

Highlighting the role of multilateral organizations, Ahmadian pointed out that entities like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS provide substantial opportunities for fostering multilateralism and countering the challenges posed by unilateral actions.

Echoing this sentiment, Vulin conveyed Serbia's readiness to collaborate closely with Iran's new government across various sectors. He also praised BRICS as a pivotal platform for strengthening multilateralism, stating, "The era of unilateralism is over, and it is through collective efforts that we can ensure a balanced global order."

The secretary of Iran’s National Security Council is in Russia to attend the 14th Meeting of BRICS High-Ranking Officials responsible for security matters in St. Petersburg.
