Tehran (IP)- Iranian and Bolivian Defense Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation.

Iran PressIran news: Heading a high-ranking delegation, Bolivia's Defense Minister arrived in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on July 17 and was welcomed by his Iranian counterpart. 

Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, Iranian Defense Minister, and his Bolivian counterpart Edmundo Novillo Aguillar signed a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation on Thursday.

At the signing ceremony, Iran's Defense Minister said that Latin American countries are important in Iran's foreign and defense policy, highlighting the visit of Iranian high-ranking officials to Latin America, including President Raisi's recent visit.

He referred to Bolivia's needs regarding border defense and combating drug trafficking, adding that both parties agreed to collaborate in this regard, which could be a good model for interaction with other friend Latin American countries.

The Minister of Defense of Bolivia, for his part, said that his country was very optimistic about the results of the Bolivian delegation's trip to Tehran, expressing hope that the trip would be the beginning of extensive cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
