Tehran (IP) - Iran and Azerbaijan agreed to finalize AstraChai Bridge's infrastructure and start operations in the next four months.

Iran PressIran News: Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development and the Head of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehrdad Bazrpash, emphasized the development of ties between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan in a telephone conversation with Shahin Mustafayev, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  
During their phone call, the heads of the Joint Economic Commission of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan agreed to finalize the AstraChai Bridge construction and commence its operation within the next four months.
The other term of discussion in the telephone conversation was expediting the preparation of the Khoda-Afarin hydroelectric plant for operation. 
Mustafayev and Bazrpash also agreed to continue their telephone talks regularly and once every two weeks until reaching an agreement.
Appreciating Bazrpash for his regular meetings at high levels, Mustafayev conveyed the message of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, regarding the importance and effectiveness of the meetings between the two countries officials. 
Mustafayev, for his part, appreciated the serious follow-up of Iran's Bazrpash on the issues raised between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan and the formation of special committees to achieve the results of the agreements. 
The Republic of Azerbaijan is one of Iran's neighbors, willing to expand cooperation with Iran in various fields in recent years.
Relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan gained new momentum after meeting the two countries' presidents on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Ashgabat on November 28, 2021.
The geopolitical factors of shared neighborhood, religious and historical ties, demographic similarities, and mutual economic and security benefits stress that Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, as neighboring countries, must maintain a close and collaborative relationship to benefit both nations and ensure regional security and stability.
