Iran Press/Asia: On Monday, November 11, 2024, Ali Asghar Khaji met with Syria's senior negotiator and accompanying delegation in Astana, Kazakhstan’s capital.
During this bilateral meeting, held alongside the 22nd round of international talks in the Astana process, the two parties discussed the latest regional developments, political and military conditions in Syria, and particularly the impact of Israeli attacks and aggression in the region.
Khaji emphasized Iran's full support for Syria and its resistance in countering Israeli occupation and hostilities, calling this stance essential for safeguarding regional peace and stability and protecting the national security of neighboring countries. Highlighting the longstanding relationship between Iran and Syria, he underscored the resolve of both nations to continue and expand their cooperation, especially in countering Israel’s actions and preventing regional escalation.
Khaji also expressed support for the prospects of normalizing relations between Syria and Turkey, stressing the positive effects this could have amid the region’s sensitive circumstances.
The Syrian delegation leader reaffirmed the strategic relationship between Syria and Iran and the commitment of both nations’ leaders to strengthening ties. He called for regional cooperation to halt Israel's aggression, achieve lasting stability and security in the region, and support the people of Palestine and Lebanon.
