Mohammad Reza Farzin, Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, met with Elvira Nabiullina, Governor of the Central Bank of Russia, during the BRICS Central Bank Governors' meeting in Moscow.

Iran Press/Europe:  The two officials highlighted the importance of enhancing monetary and banking cooperation between their nations.

According to the Central Bank of Iran, Kazem Jalali, Iran's Ambassador to Moscow, and Gholamreza Tajgardoon, Chairman of Iran’s Parliamentary Budget and Planning Committee, also attended the meeting.

Discussions covered the progress of joint financial, banking, and monetary cooperation projects between Iran and Russia.

The second BRICS Central Bank Governors' meeting is taking place today in Moscow. BRICS founding members—Russia, China, India, Brazil, and South Africa—will be joined in 2024 by new members, including Iran, Egypt, the UAE, and Ethiopia.

Farzin arrived in Moscow yesterday to attend the meeting and engage in bilateral talks with his counterparts from BRICS member countries. The 14th BRICS Summit is scheduled to be held in Kazan, Russia, from October 22 to 24, 2024.
