Iran, Afghanistan urge boosting bilateral ties

Kabul (IP) - In a meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations, regional trends, and consensus.

Iran press/ Asia: The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Bahadur Aminian, in a meeting with Mirwais Nab, pointing to the spread of recent Taliban violence, emphasized Iran's role in securing a regional consensus to support the Afghan peace process.

Expressing concern about the escalation of violence in Afghanistan, Aminian said: "Tehran had told the Taliban it opposes a government that came to power in Afghanistan through force and violence."

He also assured the support of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the ceasefire and the preservation of the achievements of Afghanistan in the last twenty years.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the process of finalizing the comprehensive document of cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran, the expansion of economic, cultural, and educational cooperation between the two countries.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the constitution and the principle of republicanism in Afghanistan and has made government-to-government relations a priority in its policy with Afghanistan.
