India and Pakistan agreed for the first time in two decades on a ceasefire in the disputed Kashmir region.

Iran press/ Asia: Pakistani media reported on Thursday that the Pakistani military had issued a joint statement with the Indian military and agreed to a ceasefire after examining the situation along the contact lines as well as in all other areas.

"The two sides have agreed on a practical commitment to all agreements and understandings," the statement said. Military officials also addressed key issues and concerns on both sides that have disrupted the peace and fueled violence.

The borders of the disputed Kashmir region have seen an escalation of violence so far, with the Indian and Pakistani armies accusing each other of violating the 2003 ceasefire. 219
