Iran Press/ Europe: In his message issued on Saturday, Pope Francis called violence against women an insult to God and called for an end to all forms of violence against women and exploitation of them.
“And since mothers bestow life, and women keep the world [together], let us all make greater efforts to promote mothers and to protect women.”
“How much violence is directed against women. Enough. To hurt a woman is to insult God, who from a woman took on our humanity – not through an angel, not directly, but through a woman,” Pope Francis urged.
As the Article 23 of EU Charter of Fundamental Rights says: "Equality between women and men must be ensured in all areas, including employment, work and pay. The principle of equality shall not prevent the maintenance or adoption of measures providing for specific advantages in favour of the under-represented sex."
In April, thousands of Canadians protested against violence against women after eight women were killed in 2021.
