Iraq (IP) - The holy shrines of Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala, southern Iraq, and his brother Hazrat Abbas (AS), hoisted mourning flags on the occasion of Muharram, the month of mourning for Imam Hussian's (AS) martyrdom.

Iran PressMiddle East: Thousands of pilgrims attended the holey shrines of Imam Reza (AS) and his brother on the first night of Muharram to begin the mourning. 

More than 1,300 years ago, in 61 AH, Imam Hussain (AS), a grandson of Islam's Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his 72 companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala, in southern Iraq, after fighting courageously for justice against the much larger army of the Umayyad caliph, Yazid I.

Imam Hussian (AS) is a figure loved and respected by all people of different religions and nations.
