Iran Press/Irannews: On Wednesday 3 October 2018, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will deliver its' Order on the request for the indication of provisional measures made by Iran in the case concerning Alleged violations of the 1955 Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations, and Consular Rights.
A public sitting will take place at 10 am at the Peace Palace in The Hague, during which Judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, President of the Court, will read the Court’s Order.
Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said on July 16 that Iran has filed a lawsuit with the ICJ for the sanctions Washington imposed on Iran in May.
At the first round of hearings, each of the two sides of the lawsuit had three hours to present evidences. Iran and the US sessions were held on August 27 and 28 respectively.
The International Court of Justice is the main judicial body of the United Nations that settles the disputes between member states according to the international law and gives advisory information on queries referred to it from UN and specialized agencies.
Tehran filed its' case before the International Court of Justice in late July, calling on the Hague-based tribunal's judges to order the immediate lifting of sanctions, which it said would cause "irreparable prejudice."
The US had no right to reinstate such measures, Tehran added, as it demanded compensation for damages.
In its' lawsuit in the ICJ, Iran has called on the court to order the US to “immediately suspend” the sanctions, saying Washington has no right to reinstate such measures.
Iran said in court papers that it “requests, pending final judgment in the case, the Court indicate... that the US shall immediately take all measures at its' disposal to ensure the suspension of the implementation of all the May 8 sanctions.”
