Iran Press/ Europe: Kazem Gharibabadi, the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN, announced on Monday that the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has officially confirmed the start of 20% uranium enrichment in Iran.
Gharibabadi stated in a Twitter message: "The IAEA Director-General reported today that upon provision of an updated DIQ (Design Information Questionnaire) for Fordow, the Agency carried out a DIV (Design Information Verification) at the Site and confirmed that a cylinder containing 137.2 kg of uranium up to 4.1% has been connected to the feeding line and production of UF6 enriched up to 20% started."
Before this, Iranian Government Spokesman Ali Rabiee had said that the process of gas injection at Fordow facility has started and today (Monday) the first product of UF6 enriched uranium will be produced.
Ali Rabiee added: "This whole process has been done after the initial steps of informing the International Atomic Energy Agency and submitting a questionnaire based on Iran's safeguard obligations."
Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant is located 32 km northeast of the city of Qom, near Fordow village.
