"The war that America is waging against Syria, against peoples of the region and resistance and liberation movements will not realise its goals," Hezbollah, said in a statement.
Hezbollah also praised the Syrian air defence for confronting an attack by the United States and its allies.
In the early hours of Saturday, the United States, Britain and France carried out a wave of military strikes against multiple targets in Syria, using an alleged chemical attack near Damascus last week as a pretext to justify the campaign.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that most missiles launched by the Western states on Syria had been downed by the Arab Republic's air defenses, when approaching targets.
The ministry also said the Russian missile defense systems deployed to Syria were not involved in intercepting the missiles.
Syria’s official SANA news agency described the Western strikes as illegal, saying, “The aggression is a flagrant violation of international law, a breach of the international community’s will, and it is doomed to fail.
