Iran Press/Iran news: Ayatollah Ali Movahedi Kermani, head of the Assembly of Experts, spoke on Tuesday at the second session of the assembly’s sixth term, urging officials to resolve the public’s challenges. He stated, “Removing obstacles to business, creating employment, supporting production, and focusing on the economy and people’s livelihoods are fundamental duties of the government, parliament, and judiciary.” Kermani further added that the government’s economic team should seek the advice of dedicated experts alongside implementing its own policies.
The head of the Assembly of Experts went on to condemn Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Gaza, expressing gratitude for public support provided to the oppressed people in these regions. He also commended the Iranian Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and Army's forces for countering Israeli aggression and offered condolences to the families of those martyred in the attacks.
Ayatollah Kermani concluded by expressing appreciation for the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s oversight of national affairs, specifically acknowledging his guidance in the “True Promise I” and “II” operations and his impactful speeches during the Friday prayer sermon at the "Victory" gathering.
Ayatollah Kermani’s address was the opening segment of the Assembly of Experts’ two-day session. The assembly will proceed with its agenda, including speeches, and reports from specialized committees. Several high-ranking officials are expected to attend as guests, providing updates on political, economic, social, cultural, and security issues.
The Assembly of Experts currently has 88 members, elected by the public for eight-year terms in national elections. The assembly’s board is also elected every two years. Regular sessions occur twice yearly, each lasting two days, with extraordinary sessions held upon request by two-thirds of the members and deemed necessary by the assembly's board.
