Iran Press/West Asia: In a statement released on Sunday, Hamas dismissed fabrications from the Israeli regime, particularly the details surrounding the operation that led to Haniyeh’s assassination.
The regime had alleged that Haniyeh was assassinated via a planted explosive device in his room at an Iranian guesthouse. The terror attack occurred during his attendance at the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Hamas, however, offered a different account, citing findings from a joint investigation by its security forces and Iranian authorities. According to the movement, Haniyeh was targeted by a guided missile containing 7.5 kilograms of explosives, which detonated when his mobile phone was activated.
"This claim by the Israeli regime is nothing more than a desperate attempt to deflect attention from this heinous crime," the statement read, adding that the attack was a flagrant breach of Iranian sovereignty.
