Iran Press/America: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says rising poverty due to health protocols and restrictions implemented to counter coronavirus outbreak in various countries has left at least 45 million people in Latin America in dire economic situation.
Guterres called for a kind of convergence to prevent the escalation of the negative consequences of the coronavirus outbreak in Latin America, declaring that the situation was is prevalent among blacks and other minorities.
Statistics show that COVID-19 disease infection mortality rate in Latin America have risen sharply in recent days.
Brazil currently has the highest number of people infected and dying from Coronavirus in Latin America.
Brazil is currently the second-largest country in the world in terms of coronavirus cases and victims, with 1,840,812 infected and 71,492 deaths.
Mexico ranks second in Latin America after Brazil in terms of vulnerability to the Coronavirus. The death toll from Coronavirus in Mexico has risen to 34,730, and the infected case in the country has risen to 295,268.
