Iran Press/West Asia: The leader of Tahrir al-Sham hosted the UN Special Envoy for Syria in Damascus.
With the overthrow of the central government of Syria, Tahrir al-Sham has now seized power in Damascus. Therefore, state and non-state actors are seeking to connect with this group.
Accordingly, Geir Pedersen, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, met with Abu Muhammad Golani, the leader of Tahrir al-Sham, in Damascus.
Golani said in the meeting: The change of government in Syria necessitates a change in the 2015 UN Security Council resolution based on new realities.
Pedersen, who arrived in Syria on Sunday, expressed hope that the changes in the country will ultimately lead to the formation of an inclusive government with the participation of the majority of the people.
The UN Special Representative called for the establishment of a mechanism for a peaceful transfer of power and the participation of all people so that Syria does not witness a civil war again.
