Iran Press/Iran news: Kazem Gharibabadi posted a message on his Instagram page, adding that Rafael Grossi, director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, will travel to Tehran tomorrow (Monday) and will meet with officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Tuesday and Wednesday.
He added that Iran's trust in the IAEA has been damaged in recent months and that it is essential that the director-general's visit to Iran serves as building trust process.
The Iranian ambassador to the international organizations based in Vienna stated that this trip has nothing to do with the so-called snapback mechanism, adding that Grossi's visit will take place at the invitation of the Iranian side.
Last Thursday, two years after leaving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the United States called for the use of a snapback mechanism in the agreement and the return of UN sanctions against Iran. The move has been opposed by members of the UN Security Council.
Gharibabadi noted that we will not allow others to manage the IAEA-Iran relationship, especially in the current sensitive situation. It is important to ensure in Tehran that the agency will act on the three principles of neutrality, independence, and professionalism, and will not go beyond its standard principles of safeguards and independent assessments and data.
He noted that only then can misunderstandings be resolved and cooperation continues.
The agency's director-general tweeted on Saturday that he would travel to Tehran on Monday to meet with Iranian officials to address remaining questions about the safeguards agreement.
The IAEA has reportedly made allegations of undeclared nuclear activities at two locations in Iran. Iran has repeatedly stated that the IAEA request is based on the claims of the Zionist regime as an enemy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
