Iran Press/ Asia: Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Industries and Production, Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi Wednesday said the completion of Pak-Iran gas pipeline project is the only solution of the energy crisis as it would help Pakistan meet its growing energy demands and reduce its dependence on imported oil.
He expressed these views addressing a meeting of industrialists at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said a press release issued here.
Mohsen Javed Dawar, the head of the Foreign Relations Commission of the National Assembly of Pakistan, recently criticized the Islamabad government's delay in completing the Iran gas transmission project and stated that this delay and the use of sanctions as an excuse is never acceptable.
In the Iran-Pakistan gas contract, the end of 2014 was set as the deadline for this contract. Long before this deadline, Iran fulfilled its commitment and built the gas pipeline to Pakistan near the border of this country. However, despite the passage of nearly a decade, the Pakistani side has not taken any action to implement its obligations under the pretext of US sanctions.
