Iran Press/ Iran News: All service forces, including the fire department, the army, and the armed forces stationed at the border, are assisting in extinguishing the fire.
Dogharoon Customs, border terminal, border bazaar, and Dogharoon Special Economic Zone have all been evacuated; trucks stationed at Dogharoon customs are also unloaded.
According to local Afghan media quoted local officials, a fire broke out at the customs office in the border town of Islam Qala, western Herat Province, Afghanistan, in the afternoon at 12:30 local time on Saturday. No casualties have been reported.
Mohsen Nejat, the Director-General of the Crisis Management Office in governor's Khorasan Razavi Province office said: "Following the explosion and fire at the Islam Qala customs facilities in Afghanistan this afternoon, relief forces were deployed in the border area and Dogharoon Customs with preventive purposes."
Herat Governor Vahid Ghatali also said that dozens of fuel tankers had caught fire following the incident and that the fire was still burning.
Qatali added that Herat province does not have enough facilities to control the fire. Due to the fire and lack of fire-fighting resources, they have sought assistance from neighboring Iran.
Border Guards Commander of Khorasan Razavi, Brigadier-General Majid Shoja, noted that the forces were on high alert in the explosion-hit area. There were no problems in terms of the needed facilities and equipment. Further investigation is still in progress.
