Iran's Sports and Youth Minister Masoud Soltanifar quoted FIFA President Gianni Infantino as saying. The minister said that the invitation by Gianni will be offered to the president today.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018.
The two officials have discussed various issues, including dispatching trainers to Iran, attending conferences of FIFA by Iranian experts, managers and trainers, as well as recent eye-catching achievements by Iranian football team.
The situation of Iranian women football is satisfactory, the minister quoted FIFA head as saying.
Referring to 'the non-political view of FIFA to football', Soltanifar said that he had asked Infantino to emphasize the point to AFC as well, so that Iran can host games without any need to play in a third country.
Infantino who arrived in Tehran on Wednesday evening met with the Iranian minister on Thursday morning.
