Iran Press/ Iran news: Today (15th of May) is the day of commemoration of the famous Iranian poet, Ferdowsi.
Ferdowsi was born in 940 CE in Tous, Iran, an ancient city near modern-day Mashhad. Little is known about his early life. It is believed that Ferdowsi came from an aristocratic family, had a wife from the same social class, and a son, whose death at the age of 37 is mourned in his masterpiece, Shahnameh.
In the message of Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi, which was published on Sunday evening on the occasion of honoring Ferdowsi's status and was read by Mahmoud Shalouei, the new head of the Cultural Artifacts and Honors Association, it is stated: "Great Iran is a cultural and spiritual truth in the heart of the ancient continent of Asia which, like a link in the main chain, connects the spiritual and cultural core of the East and the West. It was Iran that, with the beginning of the history of Islam, became the center of the Iranian field of Islamic culture and civilization, and left a deep impression even in the Arab field."
In the message, the President pointed out: "In the land, great men like Ferdowsi revived the Persian language and the history of Iran, and the people of Iran were able to continue their lives without any conflicts and contradictions in the mirror of Islamic knowledge. From this point of view, Ferdowsi, the symbol of the wisdom of this land, is not only a poet but also the one who should be considered as the essence of Iranian culture and civilization."
Raisi continued: "He is the one who clothed the body of the Persian language with a luxurious garment and a cultured identity and paid serious attention to the deep historical links and the national and cultural identity of Iran. ... Ferdowsi has been called Hakim and his Shahnameh is called the book of wisdom and epic, because now, the tall palace of the Persian poetry, while it is a description of the bravery of the heroes, is full of stories and talk of monotheism, unity and servitude of God."
In the President's message, it is stated: "I am observing Persian Language Day and commemorating wise Hakim of Tous and congratulating the culture-loving people of Iran and all those interested in the day. I wish more and more success for all the cultural activists of the country."
The commemoration ceremony of Hakim Abulqasem Ferdowsi was held on Sunday evening at Ferdowsi's tomb.
A group of guests and representatives of foreign consulates, poets, and researchers studying the life of Ferdowsi were present at the ceremony.
Presentation of Ferdowsi's badge, different rituals, the performance of the national anthem with the presence of 150 teenagers dressed in the clothes of different Iranian ethnic groups, and the performance of traditional music by Hojat Ashrafzadeh are other programs on the day of commemoration of Hakim Abolghasem Ferdowsi in Tous.
