In the past few days, Western countries have claimed that the drones used by Russia to attack the infrastructure of Ukraine are made by Iran. The Islamic Republic of Iran has always denied sending weapons to either side of the war in Ukraine.
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, Amir-Saeed Iravani, says: "Ukraine is seeking political goals in linking baseless claims against Iran and Resolution 2231. Attempts to link this claim with resolution 2231 lack any legal basis within the framework of this resolution."
Despite the claims of the European Troika and Ukraine regarding Iran's violation of Resolution 2231 in the field of arms exports, it should be noted that Iran's arms embargo, whether importing or exporting arms, ended in October 2020. This is an issue that, at the same time, was acknowledged by the members of the Security Council, including the European Troika, despite the extensive efforts of the Trump administration and Mike Pompeo, the then-US Secretary of State, to continue this sanction.

Iran, as an independent country and according to its sovereign authority, has the right to have arms relations with other countries and to import or export all kinds of weapons; In addition, Iran's defense relations with other countries take place within the framework of defense diplomacy that is in harmony with the foreign policy goals of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Accordingly, Iran has defense and military cooperation with Russia, which is done according to the general considerations of Iran's defense and based on the interests of both sides.
This is even though the Westerners, by abusing this issue, have always tried in recent months to somehow link some weapons used by the Russian army in the Ukraine war, such as drones, to Iran and consider Tehran as the cause of its export to Russia. Iran has seriously and decisively rejected this issue.

Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said in a conversation with EU foreign policy official Josep Borrell regarding the claims of using Iranian drones in the Ukraine war: "We have defense cooperation with Russia, but our policy towards the Ukraine war, is to respect the territorial integrity of this country, not sending weapons to the conflicting parties means stopping the war and ending the displacement of people."
Another issue that is raised in the field of Iran's arms exports is that, unlike the United States and European countries, which export arms to their allies such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the Zionist regime without any consideration, and they are also involved in the war in Yemen or against Palestinians use these weapons to kill innocent people; However, Iran's arms exports take place within the framework of specific criteria such as the fight against terrorism.
The western supporters of Ukraine now want to deal with the violation of Resolution 2231 by Iran by claiming to export drones to Russia, while they have a black history of exporting weapons to repressive regimes.
