19 European think-tanks asked Washington to come back to the nuclear agreement with Iran Known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA).

Iran Press/Europe: The 19 European think-tanks, including the Institute for International Relations and Foreign Policy of London, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Rome, Madrid and Prague, urged the US President Donald Trump to revise his stance toward JCPOA and the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran Press reported.

These 19 European think tanks emphasized that the US withdrawal from the JCPOA has had some adverse consequences on the international level, including harming solidarity among nations, weakening international law and intense economic pressure on the Iranian people.

Also, 50 retired diplomats and generals have recently called for Washington's return to the agreement with Iran, by writing a letter to Trump noting that Tehran's continued commitment to this international agreement reflects Tehran's punctuality and commitment.

The US government eventually withdrew from the JCPOA in May 2018. The American unilateral decision is a blatant breach of the UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

Tehran recent decision toward JCPOA

Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Tehran’s decision to reduce some voluntary commitments within its nuclear deal with world powers was legal.

The decision to reduce commitments to the JCPOA comes as Washington is ramping up pressure against Iran, by re-imposing new sanctions, including restrictions on Iran's low-level uranium enrichment, and ending the sanctions waivers for Iran’s major oil clients in an attempt to drive the country’s oil exports to zero.

Iran has stressed that it has no intention to leave the JCPOA, and its decision on reducing commitments is still within the framework of the agreement.
