Tehran (IP) - Secretary-General of Iran’s Human Rights Office slammed Europe's double standards toward terrorism and sanctions calling Europe as the one which provides terrorists with havens.

Iran PressIran News: In a tweet of extreme note on Wednesday, Kazem Gharibabadi said Iran was itself a victim of terrorism, yet the West turned a blind eye to the fact and advocated the terrorists, accusing Iran of violence.

Gharibabadi wrote: "In the meeting of diplomatic community with the Judiciary Head, I raised a point: Iran is a victim of terrorism, 17000 innocent people have been martyred by MKO terrorist group which is freely moving in European safe havens, 5 nuclear scientists have been assassinated."

Then he pointed to the US' assassination of the Iranian top commander Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani: "Iran's big hero to combat terrorism was martyred by the US regime, Iran is under inhumane US sanctions," adding "nevertheless, those who have closed their eyes on these atrocities or supporting them are seen as HR defenders, while Iran is being accused of human rights violations."

Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, commander of the IRGC's Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy Commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (Al-Hashd al-Shabi), along with eight others, became martyred on January 3, 2020, in an airstrike by US aggressors and terrorists near Baghdad Airport.

Lt. General Soleimani was in Baghdad on the formal invitation of the Iraqi government.
