Iran Press/ Europe: Kazem Jalali added that the corona outbreak has sounded a worldwide alarm because the virus does not know the boundaries and has ruthlessly attacked humanity.
He went on to say that combating this crisis would require humanity's joint action. "Either we all fail, or we defeat Corona with global determination."
The Iranian ambassador also referred to his recent talks with Russian officials and other ambassadors, saying that the international community must come to their senses and end the disgraceful, illegal and cruel US sanctions that are crimes against humanity because the sanctions has limited financial resources and power of Iran to confront Corona.
Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said on Tuesday (10 March) that the Russian government has given 50,000 coronavirus test kits to Tehran.
Jalali noted that limiting the spread of the coronavirus requires regional and global cooperation. "The Islamic Republic of Iran has implemented the required measures to contain and control the new coronavirus to stop the spread of this pathogen," he said.
Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif in a letter to Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations on 12 March, slammed the US inhuman sanctions against Iran which hinders countering Coronavirus outbreak and called for it to end.
Zarif emphasized in this letter that despite the scientific capability and commitment of the Iranian health system to combat Coronavirus outbreaks, US sanctions on legal trade in addition to recent preconditions the US authorities devised to ban the sale of drugs, medical equipment, and humanitarian goods, efforts to combat the prevalence of Covid-19 in Iran have faced serious obstacles.
Sanctions on drugs, medical equipment, humanitarian goods, and food are in violation of basic human rights laws and directly endanger the right to life of human beings.
Iran's Ministry of Health Spokesman, Kianoush Jahanpour said in his daily news conference on Sunday that in the past 24 hours 1209 new cases of COVID-19 infected people were identified in the country and the total number of patients with the disease increased to 13,938.
Iran's Ministry of Health Spokesman said: "Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 113 patients have died, and the death toll in the country has risen to 724."
He said that fortunately, so far, 4,590 patients with COVID-19 have been recovered and they have been discharged from hospitals all across Iran.
