Iraqi security forces said on Thursday that it had infiltrated and dismantled a terrorist cell in Mosul, the capital of the northern province of Nineveh, presumably belonging to the ISIL.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Iraqi army said the terrorist cell was identified and destroyed in Mosul's Hamam al-Alil area.

Despite the defeat of the ISIL terrorist group in Iraq, there are still remnants of the terrorist group in various parts of the country who carry out terrorist acts from time to time.

In 2014, with the financial and military support of the US and its Western and Arab allies, including Saudi Arabia, the ISIL terrorist group invaded and occupied large parts of the country's northern and western regions and committed numerous atrocities. Iraq then asked Iran to help Baghdad fight terrorists.

With the help of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraqi forces succeeded in liberating Rawa in the western Iraqi province of Anbar (the last ISIL base in Iraq) on November 17, 2017, and completely defeated ISIL.
