The convention on importance of the Al-Aqsa Mosque for the Muslim world has taken place in New Delhi, India.

One of the speakers at the convention said:  "US President Donald Trump decision to declare the city of al-Quds as the capital of Israel is illegal. The United States can not change international rules and laws. This illegal decision encourages Israel to increase its crimes against Palestinians" .

Another speaker at the convention noted that:  "Its' Palestinian people's right to live in their land. Living in the camps and under a lot of pressure for a along time is actually the tyranny against Palestinian people. All the leaders of various countries should try to solve this problem".

A third  speaker at the convention on the importance of Al-Aqsa Mosque for the Muslim world said:  "Current events which happen in Palestine are painful. Those who stay silent in the face of violence and terrorism are more responsible than those who commit it".

US President Donald Trump's controversial recognition of the Holy Quds on 6 December 2017 as the capital of Israel was met with fierce criticisms and admonition  from around the world, as many top brass political figures and international organizations warned about repercussions of the decision in the region and the wider world.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem in 1967 and proceeded to effectively annex it, in breach of international law.

The Palestinian leadership in the occupied West Bank, however, sees  East Jerusalem as the capital of a future independent Palestinian state.

Today, 86 percent of East Jerusalem is under the direct control of  Israeli authorities and Jewish settlers.

Palestinians want Jerusalem al-Quds  as the capital of their future state.
