British ambassador to Tehran: We all hope for peace in the region
The British ambassador to Tehran, said that problems in the Persian Gulf region can be solved though discussion and agreement.
Iran Press/ Iran news: "In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Sunday, on the sidelines of the opening of a new exhibition at Tehran National Museum on the archaeological heritage of Spain, Rob Macaire emphasised that his government is working to 'deescalate tensions in the Persian Gulf region'.
Macaire added: "We all hope for peace in this region. Obviously it is a very tense time at the moment, and the efforts of the British government have been towards deescalating (bringing down) the tensions in the region, because we believe problems can be solved though discussion and agreement, not through economic warfare and pressure."
Elsewhere in his remarks the British ambassador to Tehran also commented on the ceremony and exhibition at the National Museum of Iran, by saying: "The cooperation that happens between museums and galleries, and between academics who study the history and archaeology of countries takes place without the need for governments to be involved, because it is really a link between experts and the people."
He added: "The second reason is that when you have an exhibition like this which shows the wonderful history and culture of both Iran and in this case Spain -- and in the past we have had joint exhibitions of Iran and Britain -- what you see is that ordinary people can come and see the exhibition, and understand that what joins us together is much greater than what separates us!!"
Robert Macaire stressed that the British government wants to deescalate tensions in the Persian Gulf region.
