The US Treasury Department on Thursday imposed Iran-related sanctions on two individuals and six companies, including four firms affiliated to the National Iranian Oil Company.

Iran Press/America: The US Treasury Department said in a statement that the two individuals and 6 companies are cooperating with Iran's petrochemical industry.

According to a statement released on the US Treasury Twitter page, Washington has imposed sanctions on an Iranian, a Chinese person, three Chinese companies, two Hong Kong companies, and one Emirati company.

The US Treasury Department has previously imposed sanctions on Iranian and foreign companies and companies on various pretexts.

The United States has launched a maximum pressure campaign against Iran following the illegal withdrawal of the Iranian nuclear agreement 2015 known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) since May 8, 2018.

Trump's move has received widespread domestic and international condemnation.
