Urmia (IP)- The University of Tehran's Seismic Center has confirmed that an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck near the city of Khoy in West Azerbaijan province in northwestern Iran on Friday evening.

Iran Press/ Iran News: According to the National Seismic Center, the earthquake occurred at 17:49 pm local time on Friday evening at a latitude of 38.62, and longitude of 44.7 and at a depth of 15 kilometers.

The epicenter of this earthquake was 123 km from Urmia and 151 km from the city of Tabriz.

Khoy is located in the north of West Azarbaijan province close to the border between Iran and Turkey.
