Tehran (IP) - Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs says calm has returned to the country, and the riots are ending.

Iran PressIran news: Majid Mirahmadi said: "Although the enemy is trying to keep the fire burning, they had urged the people to protest on Wednesday, but nothing happened."

He pointed out: "It is absolutely not true that a mine had exploded in Evin prison. The events in the prison had nothing to do with the recent riots, the robbers and thugs planned to escape from the prison due to the events in the city. They thought that due to the developments in the city, the security forces and prison guards had focused on the riots."

The official concluded that what happened at Evin was not related to recent riots, no one escaped, and the death toll was 8. On 15 October 2022, following a clash among some prisoners of the Evin prison, a fire erupted in a workshop, prompting security and health forces to help stop the skirmish. They also helped send 70 prisoners engulfed in the fire to a safe place; however, eight prisoners lost their lives, and some were injured.
