Top Democrats in Congress have demanded that Robert Mueller's report on his inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 election should be unclassified.

Iran Press/America: US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said on Sunday that the full report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into Russian election interference needs to be made public.

According to a Reuters report, Pelosi and Schumer said in a joint statement after Attorney General William Barr issued a summary of the report’s findings: "The fact that Special Counsel Mueller’s report does not exonerate the president on a charge as serious as obstruction of justice demonstrates how urgent it is that the full report and underlying documentation be made public without any further delay."

The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, on 22 March delivered a report on his inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 election to Attorney General William P. Barr, bringing to a close an investigation that has consumed the nation and cast a shadow over US President Donald Trump for nearly two years.

With department officials emphasizing that Mueller’s inquiry was over and his office closing, the question for both Trump’s critics and defenders was whether the prosecutors condemned the president’s behavior in their report, exonerated him — or neither. The president’s lawyers were already girding for a possible fight over whether they could assert executive privilege to keep parts of the report secret.
