Iran Press/Iran News: Kianoush Jahanpour wrote on Twitter on Sunday morning that with the efforts of Iranian scientists and knowledge-based companies, a rapid test for the detection of coronavirus based on the identification of antibodies will be available soon.
“These quick, low-cost, and inclusive detection methods will facilitate the step-by-step implementation of ‘Smart Distancing Programme’ in the coming weeks,” Iran’s Health Ministry Spokesman added.
After implementing the Social Distancing Plan, Iran has initiated a second phase of the plan, so-called ‘Smart Distancing Programme’ from Saturday by the reopening of low-risk businesses in all provinces except Tehran.
The activity of low-risk businesses in Tehran is also scheduled to begin on April 18.
Since the drug and vaccine have not yet been developed for the treatment and prevention of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) worldwide, the best way to control the epidemic which makes social work and the reopening of jobs possible is using the COVID-19 rapid testing from antibodies.
Also, Germany is to carry out Europe’s first large-scale coronavirus antibody testing in an effort to help researchers assess infection rates and monitor the spread of the virus more effectively.
The new testing method, which is classified as a ‘high complexity test’, only needs a small prick of the finger.
The test detects two types of antibodies to determine if someone currently has COVID-19, or if they had it before and since recovered.
It can also diagnose COVID-19 in those who have shown no symptoms of the virus.
Globally, there have been nearly 1.8 million confirmed coronavirus cases, but from that number more than 402,000 have already recovered and the death toll has surpassed 108,000.
In Iran, 70,029 people have been infected with the coronavirus, 4,357 people have died due to the virus and 41,947 have recovered.
