A Palestinian was killed by an Israeli settler who reportedly opened fire on Friday near the northern West Bank city of Qalqilya, Palestinian health ministry and Israeli media said.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a short statement that it was informed by the Palestinian liaison (the security coordination office) with Israel that Abdulkarim Al-Sheikh, 21, was killed by an Israeli settler in the Ma'ale Shomron settlement east of Qalqilya, without elaborating.

Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that following the attack, an Israeli army force raided the village of Sniria close to Qalqilya and stormed several Palestinian homes, including the attacker's.

The tension between Israel and the Palestinians has flared up in the West Bank and East al-Quds since the start of this year. Official Palestinian and Israeli figures showed that more than 70 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces so far, while 14 Israelis have been killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians.
