Tehran (IP)- Iran's President, in a telephone conversation with the Governor General of West Azerbaijan on Wednesday evening, urged taking necessary and quick measures to provide suitable shelter for the earthquake victims.

Iran PressIran news: Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a telephone conversation with Mohammad Sadeq Motadian, Governor General of West Azerbaijan (northwest of Iran), emphasized taking necessary measures to provide suitable shelter for the earthquake victims of the province before the start of the cold season.

The Iranian president further announced the serious efforts of the government to deal with the affairs of the earthquake-affected areas and said: "The people of the region should know that the government is on their side and be confident that the government will stay by their side until the problems of all the people and the earthquake victims are solved. "

On Wednesday morning, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale shook "Khoi" city in West Azerbaijan province.

The Institute of Geophysics of Tehran University announced that this earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

As a result of this earthquake, 1126 people have been injured so far.

Currently, the Iranian army and various military officials are in the earthquake-affected areas to check the situation and take the necessary action accordingly.

The emergency resettlement of the earthquake-affected people has started since the early hours of the earthquake, and the relief efforts of the government, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, the army, and the Basij (voluntary force) are continuing.

According to the officials of West Azerbaijan province, the most crucial reason for the absence of casualties in this earthquake is the presence of newly built buildings with high safety in the region.
