Tehran (IP)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman expressed his deep condolences and regret over the death of a number of Ethiopians in an attack by armed insurgents in the Oromia region.

Iran PressIran news:  Ethiopia is witnessing widespread ethnic tensions in several regions due to historical discontent and political pressures.

The Amhara people, the second-largest ethnic group among Ethiopia's population of more than 110 million, have been targeted frequently in regions such as Oromia. 

Witnesses in Ethiopia have said that more than 200 people, mostly ethnic Amhara, have been killed in an attack in the country's Oromia region and are blaming a rebel group denying responsibility.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh strongly condemned the terrorist attack and expressed sympathy with the Ethiopian government, people, and survivors.

The massacre marked one of the bloodiest days in Ethiopia. Residents who survived the attack reported that the assailants massacred people and buried their bodies in mass graves.
