Ukraine (IP) - Iran-Press' exclusive images from the Ukraine-Hungarian border show that thousands of displaced persons and asylum seekers enter Hungary from different parts of Ukraine on a daily basis.

Iran PressEurope: Ukrainian refugees arrive in Hungary by train and car and are accommodated in tents set up by officials in the border town of Zahony.

World Refugee Day is an international day organized every year on 20 June by the United Nations. It is designed to celebrate refugees' entry and honor them from around the world. The day was first established on 20 June 2001, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees."At the beginning of the Ukraine war, 5,000 asylum seekers entered Hungary daily, but now the number of asylum seekers has dropped to 2,000 a day," Zahony Mayor Laszlo Helmeczi told Iran Press News Agency.

Laszlo Helmeczi added: "I do not know how the war in Ukraine will go, but the city of Zahony is ready to accept refugees."

The mayor, meanwhile, expressed concern about the extension of the war to western Ukraine, saying: "If that happens, I do not know how we can deal with the problems of asylum seekers."

The United Nations says Hungary will face two million new asylum seekers if war breaks out in western Ukraine.

Anmol Gupta is a physician who now provides medical assistance to Ukrainian war refugees on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.

"I used to live in Kharkiv, and my house was completely destroyed by the bombing," the Indian doctor told Iran Press News Agency on the border.

After the destruction of his house, the doctor traveled to Lviv to help the people of the area. After a short stay in Lviv, Gupta came to Zahony to help the displaced people.

Ukrainian war refugees cross the border for safety on a daily basis, but some reports suggest that in some European countries and the United States, asylum seekers are not comfortable and they have problems with the services they get.
