At least twenty eight militants were killed during the airstrikes conducted in southeastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan.

Iran Press/Asia: Afghan Military on Monday said that at least twenty eight militants were killed during airstrikes conducted in the vicinity of Moqor and Gilan districts, southeastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan.

The Military added that cache of arms, ammunition, vehicles used by militants also destroyed in the airstrikes.

The 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan Military in the Southeast also added in a statement said at least eight militants also sustained injuries during the airstrikes.

The 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan Military in the Southeast noted that the Explosives Ordnance Disposal team of the Afghan military also discovered two improvised explosives devices from Qazi Qala area in the provincial capital of the province.

Ghazni is among the relatively volatile provinces in southeastern parts of the country where the Taliban militants and terrorist belonging to the other groups are actively operating in some of its districts.

Earlier this month, hundreds of armed Taliban stormed Ghazni, setting fire to a number of checkpoints after engaging in deadly clashes with government forces.

The Ministry of Defense had confirmed over 300 Taliban rebels were killed, while 70 policemen, 30 soldiers, and 40 civilians also lost their lives in four-day battle in the city.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, more than 21,000 people got displaced due to these clashes.

Located some 150 kilometers from Kabul, Ghazni is situated on the main highway connecting the capital with the country’s southern and western provinces.
