Tehran (IP) - The Minister of Roads and Urban Development will travel to the Republic of Azerbaijan to follow up, facilitate and accelerate the truck's commute between the two countries.

Iran PressAsia: On Monday, Rostam Ghasemi, Minister of Roads and Urban Development, will arrive in Baku for bilateral talks with Azerbaijani officials.

The trip will last until Wednesday, January 26. He is scheduled to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mostafayev, and Rashad Nabi oglu Nabiyev, Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to speed up the transit between the two countries.

Iran and the neighbor Azerbaijan have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation in constructing the Astarachai bridge. The MOU was signed by the former Iranian Transport and Urban Development Minister Mohammad Eslami and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mostafayev in Baku on June 9, 2021

Based on the mentioned MOU, the two sides will jointly fund the 4.7-million-euro project, which is expected to be completed within 12 months.

This week is a very important week in the relations between Iran, and Azerbaijan, two neighboring countries, brothers, Muslims, and friends, Iran's Ambassador to Baku Abbas Mousavi tweeted.

"Today, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi will visit Baku, and a day later the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov will visit Tehran," Mousavi noted.

In a tweet, Azerbaijan Ambassador to Iran Ali Alizadeh announced that Zakir Hasanov would leave the Republic of Azerbaijan for Iran on Tuesday.

Earlier, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani met and talked with Alizadeh about military cooperation.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized Azerbaijani and Iranian presidents' special attention to the bilateral relations and hailed the close ties between the two countries.

They stressed the necessity of continuing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran as friendly and close neighbors in all fields. They touched upon issues of cooperation in military and military-technical fields.

The two sides also had a broad exchange of views on prospects for strengthening fruitful cooperation and the organization of reciprocal visits, enhancing the exchange of information and implementation of joint projects.
