Iran Press/ Iran News: At the UN General Assembly meeting to approve the annual report of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Majid Takht-Ravanchi stated that illegal withdrawal of the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the re-imposition of illegal sanctions, and its non-compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2231 have prevented the Islamic Republic of Iran from exercising its legitimate rights under the resolution.
Takht-Ravanchi further referred to Iran's final steps and added, Iran is ready to fully implement the JCPOA if it fully and effectively implements its commitments and verifies the removal of all illegal sanctions while receiving guarantees that the West will not violate its obligations again.
The Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations also referred to the close cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, which has received the highest number of inspections among all members, and even during the coronavirus outbreak, these inspections have continued. He stressed that there is no issue regarding the implementation of Iran's safeguards agreements, and this has been confirmed in the latest report by the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Takht-Ravanchi went on to say: "Nuclear energy is an important role in various aspects of economic and social development of countries". This issue is fully specified in the NPT and the Charter of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and one of the IAEA's statutory duties is to assist member states in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Referring to the Zionist regime's sabotage attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities and the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, an Iranian nuclear and defense scientist, Takht-Ravanchi called on international organizations, especially the United Nations to condemn these crimes.
Takht- Ravanchi added that the Zionist regime is still not a member of the NPT and is not willing to accept the agreement and the safeguards of the IAEA, and the IAEA should deal with this issue professionally without any political bias. 219
